On arriving at George’s House you will enter the main house through the porch –perfect for keeping those muddy/sandy boots and coats. The ground floor comprises the living room with open fire, Freeview television and DVD player, a downstairs toilet with wash basin, and a well-equipped dining kitchen with Rayburn range, microwave, fridge/freezer and washing machine. Logs and kindling for the fire can be found at various places around Harris.
The first floor is made up of two bedrooms, the master room with a king bed and built in wardrobes, and a triple, as well as the family bathroom with a bath and overhead shower. All bed linen and towels are provided.
Just across the driveway, there is a self-contained studio which sleeps 2 people. This space has an en-suite bathroom with toilet, basin and shower and a small kitchenette with hot and cold running water, kettle and fridge. The day bed/collapsible truckle bed can be set up as a double or twin.
There is a conservatory to the side of the house, which is perfect for enjoying your morning coffee whilst taking in the fantastic views, and for those wanting to enjoy an alfresco dinner there is a dining table and chairs. A BBQ is also available.
Wifi is available in the main house along with a house phone. We kindly ask guests to use the Wi-Fi sparingly as the house uses a special wireless network common to the Western Isles and download limits are capped each month to only 30BG. We want to make sure everyone has the opportunity to use the Wi-Fi and for us to be able to continue to offer it free of charge. This means no streaming of content, rather using it simply for emails and social media updates. If you want to download films to enjoy, please do so before arriving at George’s House.
There are some appliances available which guests are free to use, such as a hairdryer, iron, ironing board, vacuum cleaner, picnic set, cool box, various boards games and DVD selection. There is also a selection of wellies and waterproofs in the porch.
